Give us the facts and let America decide.

Give us the facts and let America decide.

The American people have always been understanding and unless the circumstances involve a horrendous act forgiving. What they are not is simpleminded, moronic or foolish. Still stories are continually changing as if earlier statements will go unnoticed. However, the recent testimony on the hill and continual media discoveries has made it clear the scenarios given by various government agencies are anything but accurate.

I doubt we will ever know what truly happened in Benghazi but one thing is obvious what’s been said so far is far from the truth. The inconsistencies from all who either “knew or should have known” what was going on is beyond denial for even the most ardent supporter of either the administration or the Department of State.

Mistakes were made, which unfortunately led to the loss of life of some great patriots and heroes but the greatest blunder is not leveling with the American people. Why was there editing of intelligence reports to formulate more suitable talking points, and for whom were the modifications meant to placate?

At this point the media should be developing timelines and pushing for answers as to why the various pieces of information aren’t adding up. This isn’t a partisan politics it’s doing what the American people expect from our free press. Discovering the truth.

Healthier America – Families (Part 2 of 3)

Healthier America – Families (Part 2 of 3)

Eating Together Improves Health (Part 2) - For those that have slipped away from traditions that many of us grew up with it might be surprising to learn that one of the simplest and most rewarding changes a family can make is eating together at the dinner table. Understandably, it can be difficult to fit in the family meal while balancing music lessons, academic tutoring, sports practice and a plethora of other activities with a parents work schedule. However, a review of past research by Rutgers University demonstrated a definite link between family meals and weight gain.  People who consume a homemade meal enjoy better quality food at lesser amounts but there are added benefits to eating together. A family dinner also provides a platform for teaching children these healthy habits, correcting manners and most importantly improving communication, which is paramount for a healthy attitude.

Healthier America provides practical health tips that can be easily implemented in your everyday life.

Healthier America – Families (Part 1 of 3)

Who’s at fault for childhood obesity?  (Part1) - A Yale study identified parents as the major cause for childhood obesity, and it’s hard pressed to dispute their findings. Although, there are number of factors that add to the difficulties of healthy living, ranging from fast-food advertising to the high costs of organic foods, ultimately the responsibility lay in the hands of the parents. Like it or not few have a greater influence over a child’s habits than ole mom and dad, and it’s the parent’s responsibility to do everything possible to set a positive example. This doesn’t mean every family has to emulate Jillian Michaels or compete in a triathlon but for some Americans it means making a parental commitment toward a healthier lifestyle.

Healthier America provides practical health tips that can be easily implemented in your everyday life.

Navy Corpsman

Navy Corpsman

Corpsman Book Cover 3DCorpsman – “I’m the one called Doc” is a joint project between authors Mark L. Donald and retired Chief Hospital Corpsman Harry D. Penny Jr. written in cooperation with the Navy historians at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and the Naval History and Heritage Command.

Although, this book will chronicle key events in the development of the Hospital Corps, from its inception to current operations, Corpsman – “I’m the one called Doc” is not intended to be a historical recounting of the corps.

It’s our intention to focus on capturing the essence of Navy Corpsman by telling personal stories that highlight the characteristics of these remarkable men and women.

This isn’t just a battlefield book. During our years of service both Harry and I encountered numerous monumental accomplishments and humanistic stories about what it means to be a corpsman. Often times these happened during periods of peace such as training, humanitarian assistance and day-to-day operations, not just on the battlefield. We want to capture these as well.

If you’re a Corpsman, past or present, we want to hear from you!

Despite our having hundreds of stories we realize there are countless others we haven’t heard. Help us locate those special stories. The ones America needs to hear about, the stories that cover the full gamut of the corps.

If you happen to be one of those stories or know someone who is please let us know (Click Here)

If you’re not a Corpsman but want to stay informed follow us here and on our social network pages. Trust me you won’t be disappointed when you read Corpsman – “I’m the one called Doc”
